Meet Sonya Imbsen, CPA
Sonya Imbsen is a West Virginia girl born and bred. She attended a small liberal arts college in Charlotte, NC and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting with a minor in Business. After graduating, she found her way back to West Virginia where she began her public accounting career. In March of 2000, it was time to make a change and Sonya headed west to California. After marrying her husband George in September of that year she continued to work in the public accounting arena. It was at this time she decided to add those three little letters to the end of her name to go with those three little letters in front of it, CPA. She buckled down and passed the CPA Exam in 2003 and officially became Mrs. Sonya R. Imbsen, CPA. In May of 2003 George and Sonya welcomed their first child, a son, Benjamin. After staying home with Ben for four months, Sonya knew she was not ready to go back into the work force full time, and at that time she began working part-time, still maintaining her Continuing Education requirements for her CPA license. In March of 2006 a baby girl, Rachel was added to the Imbsen household. In 2009, for the first time in 13 years it was time to get out of public accounting and enter the corporate world. And wow, what a change it was. Sonya was introduced to a whole new ball game, no pun intended, while working for professional athletes, specifically major league baseball players. Sonya likes to describe her job by saying, you know in the movies when the person says have your people call my people, well she is the people. And by the people she means she is available to take care of all needs for her clients. Whether they need a reservation to a new restaurant, their car transported for spring training, or a place to live she is there. She is also there to prepare budgets, bill pay, and facilitate tax return preparation. There is no need too big or too small.
Sonya wants her clients to concentrate on baseball and let her concentrate on everything else.
Sonya is fortunate to be able to combine her love of sports and accounting into one.
When not working, the majority of her time is spent with her family either on a baseball/softball diamond, a basketball court, the lake or the slopes.
